Providing reassurance &
tailored support for future planning

Orbis is a family-owned and operated National Disability Insurance Scheme (“NDIS”) support services business based on the Mornington Peninsula.

We provide friendly, collaborative and practical support, for people with disability and their families, by developing a well-organised and detailed future planning map (the Orbis Atlas). We understand it takes courage to look ahead ━ our goal is to help families find peace of mind along their planning journey.

Our Services

At Orbis we encourage proactive planning as a part of routine life and self-care.

There may be times when carers are not able to fulfil their responsibilities ━ we help you and your family prepare for those scenarios. Over the course of our one-on-one online mentoring sessions, you create your own Orbis Atlas (where everything is contained in one safe place).

No two Atlases will be the same. Your individual needs, your history, and your future guide the formation of your Atlas.

Mentoring sessions will cover key topics in future planning, such as:

  • developing emergency action plans
  • putting goals/aims down in writing
  • collecting original certificates/court orders/legal paperwork
  • contacting relevant authorities to clarify tricky questions
  • writing out instructions for future carers on what to do in certain circumstances
  • engaging professionals
  • integrating things discovered in the planning process with future NDIS Plans

My Story

My name is Lou Howard and I’m the founder of Orbis Support Services.

I’m a single mum to an adult daughter who is an NDIS Participant ━ I’m what NDIS call an “aging carer”. I have the ‘organisation’ gene, and it’s gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life.

Future Planning was daunting for me. The mere thought of it would bring tears to my eyes ━ of course I knew it was necessary, but it was a reminder that I wouldn’t be here forever.

In the past, the easiest thing for me had been to put it all in the ‘too-hard basket’. It didn’t feel urgent. But there was always a niggling feeling that wouldn’t go away – if I waited for a crisis to happen before I did anything, then it was going to be too stressful and not done right. What if I needed to go into hospital? Or on a brighter note, what if I wanted to go on a holiday? I knew where everything was kept, but no one else did.
